Ok this might be a bit of a rant to start out but it will be helpful I promise you.
IF YOU ARE RUNNING A COMPANY OF ANY KIND MAKE SURE YOU PROVIDE EXEMPLARY SERVICE TO YOUR CUSTOMERS!!!!
Did you catch the four exclamation marks on that one. Have you ever tried to call support on a software package before. If you have you will understand why I am so convicted to provide amazing support for my customers.
At Oprius we provide unlimited FREE support with a toll free number and it is paying off in the sales department. You might argue that this is expensive for the company and not realistic for a product that is only $15.00 per month but I beg to differ. Not only is it a good idea it is mandatory if we are to grow our market share. These are the benefits of providing AMAZING customer support.
- HIGH CONVERSION RATE: We even provide the same level of support to our trial users that we do to our paying customers which leads to a very high conversion rate to paid. You wouldn't believe the amount of positive feed back we get from trial users regarding our support of them in trial.
- HIGH RETENTION RATE: When you provide amazing support you will keep you customers longer and create a relationship with them that will last for as long as they need your product or service.
- REPUTATION: I can guarantee that when someone talks about you the FIRST thing they will tell someone is about the customer service they had even before they talk about the product. In the reviews online our customers review and talk about the product and inevitably mention our amazing customer service before they talk about the product.
- INCREASED MARKET SHARE: If you provide amazing customer support you will take market share from the ones that are not even if your product is not as feature rich or brilliant.
I would even go as far as to say that your customer service level should be your key differentiator between you and your competition. I firmly believe that it is the subtle differentiators that lead to long term success. The ones the that user picks up on which makes them never want to leave.
Many companies don't go out of their way to provide this level of support because it is costly. Sometimes it costs more to service a user than their initial investment in your product and so they just decide that they would rather loose the user than put out the money for the support. Not providing amazing customer support is a short term gain and a long term loss.
SO go for it and our serve your customer and you will see the end result down the road
